The Old Settler

The Old Settler

Drama by John Henry Redwood; Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
Director: Venis Glover
Auditions: January 7 & 8th, 2008 at 7:30pm Cast requires 1 man and 3 women
Playdates: February 15-17, 21 - 24, February 28 - March 1, 2008

This is a gentle, sweet-natured comedy about life in Harlem in 1943. The story chooses to remember the good without the bad, being about the relationship of two “fiftyish,” church-going spinsters or, as they were called in those days, Old Settlers, Elizabeth and her sister, Quilly. The play revolves around what happens when a handsome young fellow, Husband Witherspoon, newly arrived from the Deep South, rents a room in the apartment they share, while he searches for his girlfriend. A true gem of a show; not to be missed!
