Jack the Ripper: Monster of Whitechapel

Jack the Ripper: Monster of Whitechapel

Comedy/Melodrama by Joe Dickinson; Baker's Plays
Director: Cathy Collins
Auditions: July 23 & 24, 2007 at 7:30pm Cast requires 6 men, 8 women
Playdates: September 7-9, 13-16, 20-22, 2007

Jack the Ripper's reign of terror has begun in this comical but scary treatment about serial killer who terrorized London in the 1880's. Sir Charles Warren, a totally inept Commissioner of Police, must apprehend him. The theory given is that the murders have an occult connection. Jack, it seems, practices black magic, which requires sacrifices to assure him long life. Four women are murdered, and the play revolves around attempts at keeping the fifth, Angela Ellison, “a reformed girl of the streets,” from becoming the final requirement for Jack’s evil ritual. Alternate endings allow the director (with a well -known fiendish streak!) to select a different “Jack” each night, keeping everyone guessing until the final scene...........................…including the cast!
